Project Description:

Water Feature Type: Bio Pools

Multi-award winning gardens at the London Square residential development in Streatham Hill

Ustigate installed three raised natural pools to sit amongst 60 semi-mature trees and 6000 spring bulbs

Challenge:

To design and build three organic water features to complement the natural planting scheme at Streatham Hill.

To avoid chemical treatment to guarantee all local plantlife the best environment to thrive.

To design and build a water management system with bio filtration and ultraviolet sterilisation to cleanse and turnover the water.

Success:

Streatham Hill has a gated oasis with three natural pools, a variety of flowerbeds and a private landscaped courtyard for all London Square residents to enjoy. The water features and the soft landscaping are all installed in raised beds, providing a low maintenance, very attractive scheme. Each of the raised pools are lined with GRP to create the illusion of a greater depth of water, and to provide London Square with a robust, high quality, water-proofing solution that will last for many years. Ustigate made good use of a space in the below ground car park to accommodate the plant room.

In March 2019 Kingston Landscape received three APL awards for the Streatham Hill project: Commercial Garden, Soft Landscaping and Supreme Winner! The Judges’ said “The design made it feel like a number of smaller gardens which could be enjoyed by the residents and it offered inspiration.”

The 1.228m² south facing garden is enclosed on three sides by five and six storey apartments with planting selected to provide all-year-round interest. Kingston Landscape created the height and structure with 60 semi-mature trees and 6,000 spring bulbs.

Maintenance: Annual maintenance to commission and decommission.
